Wishing

The only way I can describe today’s outfit is: pleased. Last night I pinned a double twist tuck, and I told myself i would do it after I worked out and showered. And I actually did it! (There are many things I say I will do, and just ‘never get around to it.’)

I built my outfit around the hair. I’ve wanted to pair these jeans with heels for awhile but the timing never seemed right. I picked the pink top because I felt like pairing red and pink together again. I also thought it added to the romantic-ness of the hair.

I had to change later though because it started SNOWING (I know. It’s almost March. And we got snow.) and because I had to work.

 Sadly, the hair/makeup shot is a bathroom shot. I could not for the life of me get a decent shot while outdoors. I just went with a simple cat eye and mascara. The best part about the hair thought? It stayed in all day. I had it in for ten hours, and I did not use hairspray except on the back! Even if it got messier–it looked like it was supposed to be that way! I’ll definitely be doing this one again, plus it’s much easier than a french braid.

Easter Egg

“You look like an easter egg,” said my mother.

My response was: “Thanks!”

This outfit isn’t great but I’m posting it anyway. Sunday was set aside for spring cleaning the house, doing laundry and other chores, and I simply couldn’t wait any longer to wear these jeans. Really, doing chores isn’t conducive to wearing nice things. However, nothing brightens up your mood more than an Easter Egg outfit.

I also attempted a new(ish) photo location, but it didn’t really work out. All the picture turned out so incredibly awkward.

 These Missoni for Target (kids’) flats have been getting a lot of wear. The multiple colors makes sure they really do go with everything and anything.

So I don’t know if you’re interested, but I’ve lost three pounds over the last two weeks on the Game On! Diet. I’m really happy with my progress so far, and I’ve even started looking forward to my daily workouts. I frequently run for longer than I need to! The other day I actually ran/jogged a 5K in 45 minutes. This is amazing progress from where I was at the beginning.

The only downside so far is my hair is really started to revolt on the daily shampoo/conditioner treatment.

Target Grey

When I went to review the Jason Wu for Target collection I tried on these jeans too. I loved them, but really couldn’t afford to buy anything at that point so I told myself I would come back later. Well, on Friday, I headed to Target and picked them up! (I planned on snagging the miniskirt I loved last time, too but it was out of stock. I was so upset!) Lucky that I went then, since they were the last pair in my size.

I wanted to do a grey monotone, but I feel like it would have worked better if my grey boots were ankle boots instead of mid calf boots.

FBFF: My Blogging Tools

While following all the NYFW posts and tweets, Katy Rose of Modly Chic started thinking about the tools that bloggers use. Technology is something that frequently makes things so much easier for all of us, even if it can be a bit… difficult at times. :)

Without further ado, here are the questions for February’s Fashion Beauty Friend Friday:

1. What are the tools you use to blog?

I mostly use my Macbook (the love of my life!) and my little point and shoot camera. As far as programs, all my photos are uploaded to iPhoto and I only use a couple simple tweaks to fix the color. I use Twitter and Facebook to a small extent, too. Not as much as I want to (or should) however. Pinterest is also amazing–although it is a huge time waster!

2. What technology item is on your wish-list? 

On the top of my list is an iPhone. I’m just waiting for my next upgrade! I think it would be incredibly useful since twittering at your computer is kind of sad (at least to me). After that is a digital SLR, but that’s probably way farther off since they’re so expensive.

3. Through the barrage of posts, tweets, pics, poses, messages, etc… how do you avoid becoming a slave to the constant infiltration of information? 

Honestly, I’m kind of a slave to Facebook. I’m on there so often! However, I’ve been really working on curtailing my online hours. I only check my blogroll once a week, and I write most of my posts in the evenings. Part of the Game On! Diet that I’m doing has also involved cultivating a new habit and giving up a bad habit. The bad habit I chose to give up was Facebook after a certain time. So instead I’ve been spending that time on reading or other productive things that I want to be doing instead of spending so much time online. I think it’s a good thing for me!

Take Me Out

Some days I throw an outfit together based around one garment I want to wear. I knew I wanted to wear this top because it is ridiculous large and comfortable. It is a big square chunk of fabric. Probably not super flattering, but I love it.

I also knew I did not want to wear pants. Hence, I snagged this skirt from the back of my closet. I’ve owned it since I was in 7th or 8th grade, and it’s kind of a miracle it still fits (barely). It’s fun and perfect for summer, really, and I really really wish it was summer right now. Dress for the weather you want, right?

On other days, most of the pictures of today’s outfit would have been considered outtakes and I probably would not have posted them. However, today I felt like they captured the mood of the outfit perfectly.

 These earrings were incredibly difficult to photograph. They seem to reflect light exceptionally well. I got them in Hawaii years ago, at a little local store on one of the islands. I snagged on other pair of earrings there too.

In other news: As I mentioned The Game On! Diet before, I actually lost a pound and a half the first week! I’m pretty excited to see my progress continue as I go into this week, even though I’ve started to have some super chocolate cravings!

State the Obvious

So I’m pretty sure it’s obvious that this outfit was for an interview that I had yesterday. I mean, it’s obviously not casual.

However, it is kind of a boring conservative outfit, so I really don’t have much to say about it. However, I did get the job so I assume the outfit helped (at least a little bit).

Gold & Glitter

Outfit Details: Sequin Tank: TJ Maxx; Cardigan: Target; Jeans: Per Se, via Ross; Shoes: Madden Girl, X-mas gift.

I don’t have much to say about this outfit, other than I’ve been wanting to pair this tank and cardigan together for awhile. I managed to misplace the top, however, and it took me awhile to find it.

I ended up wearing this to the movies. My sister is visiting for the weekend, and so her, myself, and my mom all went and saw The Vow. Rachel McAdams is utterly adorable, as usual. Overall, it was a pretty good chick flick, but not up to the holy grail standards of The Notebook (Then again, is anything really up to the epic romance of The Notebook?).

 The boots are surprisingly comfortable! I’ve been wearing them everywhere lately. They’ve even started to replace my go-to knee high boots.

The sequins on this shirt are enormous! And they also screw with my OCD tendencies, since not all of them will lay the right way. Also, you can see a hint of my current manicure!

Not the Early Bird

Friday, the ABC’s of Style was doing yellow which I (obviously) did not participate in. I planned on wearing yellow, but ended up not. Of course, I also forgot to take outfit pictures that day anyway.

I picked up this mustard yellow shirt at Walmart. My mom called me when they were having a great deal on long sleeved shirts since I owned a total of none. This is one of several I picked up and probably my favorite. It’s also one of the few yellow items I own!

The outfit looked a little plain with just skirt, top, and shoes, so I dug through my wardrobe hoping to find a navy scarf. This one is perfect! It even had little flecks of yellow/gold (stars)!

These Missoni for Target flats are my favorite of the two pairs. These are the kid’s shoes, and are definitely more comfortable.

I have also now accepted that this scarf is navy and not black like I originally thought.
